Delta North Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly ruled out any possibility of reconciling with his estranged actress wife, Regina Daniels, stating that he neither seeks her return nor maintains communication with her. Instead, he insists that she must undergo therapy to address what he describes as escalating mental and behavioral concerns linked to hard drug use.
The lawmaker made the revelation in a detailed statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, where he also included screenshots of what he said was his last WhatsApp communication with Regina, dated October 17. The release of the chat, he explained, became necessary to clarify what he termed misinformation surrounding the breakdown of their marriage.
The marriage between Ned Nwoko, a billionaire lawyer and politician, and Regina Daniels, one of Nollywood’s most popular actresses, has long attracted public attention. Their 2019 union defined by a striking age difference and intense media scrutiny—became one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity marriages. Despite initial controversies, the couple often projected an image of happiness through social media posts, public events, and family celebrations.
However, in recent months, rumours of tension within the marriage grew stronger as Regina’s public appearances reduced, and speculation intensified about alleged disagreements within the Nwoko household. Online blogs have circulated various claims, including reports of domestic conflict, emotional strain, and alleged infidelity, though none had been publicly confirmed until the senator’s statement.
Tuesday’s disclosure marks the first explicit acknowledgment by Nwoko that the marriage has ruptured and that its breakdown is tied to deeper personal and health issues affecting Regina.

Nwoko: “I Do Not Want Her Back”
In his statement, Nwoko stated clearly that reconciliation is not on the table.
“Senator Ned Nwoko is not chatting with Regina and does not want her back in the house. All he is insisting on is that she should be encouraged to go to therapy,” the statement read.
He stressed that contrary to rumours suggesting he had been communicating with her secretly or attempting to persuade her to return, their last conversation was months ago. To reinforce his point, he posted screenshots he claimed were from October 17 an ultimatum in which he reportedly urged Regina to begin rehabilitation or risk losing access to her marital home.
Perhaps the most shocking part of Nwoko’s statement is the allegation that Regina has been operating under the influence of “hard drugs,” which he says have triggered violent and irrational behaviour.
According to the senator, “what happened, when, and how” the marriage deteriorated was rooted in a pattern of substance-induced incidents that he said endangered not only Regina but those around her. Although he provided no additional evidence beyond the WhatsApp screenshots, he insisted the public needed to know why he took a firm stand.
He added that the reason for releasing the October message was to dispel rumours that he had been emotionally manipulative or was seeking to force her return.
The Nwoko–Daniels marriage has always been the subject of global fascination among fans, bloggers, and critics. Regina, who rose to fame as a teenage actress, often shared glimpses of a luxurious lifestyle with her billionaire husband. The couple welcomed two sons together and, until recently, appeared to maintain a united public front.
But with Nwoko’s statement now confirming deep personal challenges, analysts say the revelation may permanently reshape public perception of the once-admired celebrity pair.
Reactions across social media have been swift and divided. Some Nigerians have criticised Nwoko for bringing private family matters into the public domain, describing his statement as excessive and harmful to Regina’s image. Others argue that if the actress is truly struggling with substance dependency, public pressure for her to seek help may be in her best interest.
Several industry colleagues have urged caution, advising both parties to prioritise professional mental health support rather than social media disclosures.
Regina Daniels has not yet responded to the allegations.
Meanwhile, Nwoko says his concern remains centered on her rehabilitation and long-term wellbeing, insisting he has no intention of reconciling until she undergoes therapy if at all.
The unfolding story continues to grip the entertainment industry, raising important questions about celebrity mental health, the pressures of fame, and the consequences of publicising private family conflicts.
