Eight people escaped unhurt after a Hawker 800XP aircraft was involved in an incident at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano State, prompting an investigation by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
The NSIB confirmed that the aircraft, registered 5N-ISB and operated by Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited, departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday, 14 December 2025, at around 09:20 local time. It was a non-scheduled domestic passenger flight bound for Kano.
Onboard were eight individuals, including two cockpit crew members, one cabin crew member, and five passengers. According to the NSIB, all passengers and crew members escaped without injury.
The Bureau has commenced a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, aiming to determine its cause and prevent future occurrences.

Authorities have not released details about the nature of the incident, but aviation safety experts emphasize that investigations are standard procedure in all such events to maintain safety standards.
Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. The NSIB said updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
