Barely two weeks after the commissioning of Access Bank’s regional headquarters in Owerri, Imo State on Monday, December 15, 2025, recorded another boost to its financial landscape with the opening of Nova Bank’s regional headquarters in the state capital.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Hope Uzodinma reaffirmed that Imo State remains open for business, stressing that his administration is committed to creating a safe, stable, and investor-friendly environment for financial institutions and other businesses to thrive.

The governor noted that the decision by Nova Bank to site its regional office in Owerri reflects growing confidence in the state’s economic direction. He said the government will continue to support policies and infrastructure development that attract long-term investment and stimulate job creation.

Uzodinma’s remarks echoed his recent address at the Imo Economic Summit, where he unveiled strategic initiatives designed to reposition the state as a preferred destination for commerce, finance, and industry in the Southeast.

The back-to-back establishment of regional headquarters by Access Bank and Nova Bank is increasingly seen as a strong signal that Imo State is emerging as a financial and economic hub in the region. Analysts say the development underscores the impact of deliberate governance, improved infrastructure, and consistent engagement with the private sector.

Observers also note that Imo’s experience offers lessons for other Southeast states on how focused policies and investor-friendly leadership can translate into tangible economic gains and renewed business confidence.
