The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has condemned the violent attack on Dr. Adeniyi A., a member of the association, while on duty at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, calling for immediate compensation for the pain and trauma suffered.
Dr. Adeniyi was reportedly physically assaulted by a group believed to be relatives of a surgical patient, according to NARD. The attack occurred while he was performing his professional duties.
In a statement, NARD described the incident as “reprehensible, barbaric, and a direct assault on the medical profession and the Nigerian healthcare system,” stressing that such acts violate the principles of natural justice.

The association warned that attacks on healthcare workers undermine the delivery of medical services in Nigeria and called on authorities to take urgent measures to protect medical personnel.
No arrests or official responses from FMC Owo management have been reported as of Sunday, but NARD’s statement emphasized that those responsible must be held accountable.
