The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has banned the sale and distribution of Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour in Nigeria following the discovery of undeclared allergens that could pose serious health risks to consumers.
NAFDAC said laboratory analysis revealed the presence of milk and eggs in the product, allergens that were not declared on the packaging. The agency warned that the omission could endanger people with allergies or food intolerances, potentially triggering severe reactions.
In a statement, NAFDAC explained that food manufacturers are legally required to clearly disclose all allergens contained in their products to enable consumers make safe and informed choices. Failure to do so, the agency noted, violates food safety regulations and consumer protection standards.
“The presence of undeclared milk and egg allergens in a widely consumed product represents a significant public health concern, especially for individuals with known allergies,” NAFDAC stated, adding that the ban was imposed to safeguard public health.
The regulatory body directed distributors, retailers, and consumers to immediately stop the sale and consumption of the affected Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles. It also advised vendors to remove the product from shelves nationwide, warning that enforcement actions would be taken against defaulters.

NAFDAC further urged consumers who may have already purchased the product to check labels carefully and avoid consumption if they are allergic or intolerant to milk or eggs. Members of the public were encouraged to report sightings of the banned product in markets and stores to the nearest NAFDAC office.
The agency reiterated its commitment to routine surveillance, product testing, and strict enforcement of food safety standards across the country. It said the action forms part of broader efforts to ensure that all processed foods sold in Nigeria meet approved quality and safety requirements.
NAFDAC also assured Nigerians that it would continue engaging manufacturers to ensure full compliance with labelling regulations and international best practices. The agency stressed that consumer safety remains its top priority.
Indomie noodles are among the most popular instant food products in Nigeria, widely consumed by adults and children alike. The ban is expected to heighten awareness about food allergens and the importance of transparent product labelling in the country’s fast-moving consumer goods sector.
