Lateef Adedimeji

Renowned Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has expressed profound humility and gratitude following the announcement of the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) nominees, where he secured a staggering five nominations across multiple prestigious categories.

Adedimeji, known for his versatile performances, achieved a rare feat by being nominated twice within the same category, an accomplishment he described as truly humbling.

The actor’s dominance in this year’s selection is highlighted by his work in the critically acclaimed project Lisabi and other notable films. His 2026 AMVCA nods include: Best Lead Actor: Lisabi (marking his second consecutive year in this category), Best Supporting Actor: Dual nominations for his roles in Ginger and Red Circle, Best Indigenous Film: Lisabi, Best Makeup: Lisabi (credited to @hakeemeffect).

Reacting to the news, Adedimeji took to social media to share his joy, attributing his success to a divine blend of perseverance and spiritual backing.

“Which of Your favours will I deny, Ya Allah? This is faith, hard work, and grace. Alhamdulillah, always,” he stated.

The actor’s current triumph stands in stark contrast to his early days in the industry. Adedimeji has been vocal about his arduous pre-fame journey, recently recalling a time when a mentor in the Yoruba movie industry predicted he would fail within a year. In a defiant response at the time, Lateef asked for two years to prove his worth, a timeline he has since far surpassed.

He also reflected on the pivotal support of colleague Yewande Adekoya, who faced criticism for handpicking him for roles early on, and remembered the dark period when his personal production failed, nearly driving him to quit the craft.
