The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in an official statement.
According to the minister, April 3 will be observed as Good Friday, while April 6 has been designated as Easter Monday, in line with the Christian calendar.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion, urging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, love, and hope associated with the Easter season.
He also encouraged citizens to use the holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress of the country.
Easter is one of the most significant celebrations in Christianity, commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
