Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba are set to officially announce Deji Ayeni as their new technical adviser next week.
The Aba-based club is expected to make the confirmation following weeks of internal consultations after the suspension of former technical adviser Stanley Eguma in November over a run of poor results.
Eguma was placed on suspension as Enyimba struggled to meet expectations in the NPFL, prompting the club’s management to seek a fresh direction on the technical bench in a bid to revive their campaign.
Since Eguma’s suspension, Lawrence Ukaegbu has overseen the team in an interim capacity. The former Enyimba defender has been in charge of day-to-day training and match decisions while the club finalized plans for a substantive appointment.

Ayeni, a former Nigeria international and experienced coach, is expected to bring stability and renewed tactical discipline to the People’s Elephant as they push to improve their league standing. His appointment is also seen as part of Enyimba’s broader effort to restore their status as one of Nigeria’s dominant football forces.
Club officials are yet to release full details of Ayeni’s contract, but sources indicate the announcement will be made public early next week, paving the way for him to take charge of the team ahead of upcoming NPFL fixtures.
