The Ebonyi State Governor has approved the payment of a ₦150,000 Christmas bonus for civil servants across the state as part of measures to ease the economic burden on workers during the festive season.
The governor made the announcement on Monday, saying the gesture was aimed at appreciating the dedication and resilience of the state workforce, particularly in the face of prevailing economic challenges. He noted that civil servants remain critical to the effective delivery of government policies and services at all levels.
According to the governor, the bonus will be paid to eligible workers in addition to their December salaries, with directives already issued to the relevant ministries and agencies to ensure prompt disbursement before Christmas.

He said the decision reflects his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and its resolve to ensure that families in the state are able to celebrate the festive period with dignity.
Labour leaders in the state welcomed the announcement, describing it as timely and encouraging. They said the bonus would go a long way in cushioning the effects of rising living costs and boosting morale within the civil service.
The Ebonyi State Government assured workers that it would continue to prioritise their welfare while sustaining policies aimed at improving productivity and service delivery.
The announcement has been greeted with widespread approval among civil servants, many of whom expressed gratitude to the governor for the financial support ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
