With 11 days to the Yenagoa City International 10KM Race, preparations have intensified as Bayelsa State capital takes on a new look ahead of the highly anticipated event scheduled for April 4, 2026.

The race, which will start at Obollo Roundabout and finish at Peace Park Square, is expected to showcase some of the city’s major roads, with officials promising a safe and well-coordinated route for participants and spectators.

According to the organisers, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, final preparations are in full swing to ensure the event meets international standards and delivers a memorable experience for athletes and residents alike.

Speaking on the readiness for the race, the organisers noted that the event is designed not only as a competition but also as a platform to promote healthy living, tourism, and youth participation in sports.

They added that the race will feature both professional and recreational categories, giving people of different fitness levels the opportunity to take part.

Participants who have registered for the race have been advised to collect their race kits at Peace Park in Yenagoa between April 1 and April 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

Each participant is expected to receive a kit containing a race bib, branded vest, and other materials required for the competition, while organisers stressed that only those with valid identification or proof of registration will be allowed to collect the kits.

Sports officials say the competition is expected to attract visitors, boost local businesses, and further position Bayelsa State as a destination for major sporting events in Nigeria.

Security agencies and emergency response teams are also said to be working with the organisers to ensure the safety of participants and spectators throughout the race.

With the countdown now at 11 days, organisers expressed confidence that the event will deliver a grand road race experience and leave a lasting impression on athletes and fans
