Stanley Nwabali

South African Premier Division side Chippa United has officially announced the departure of Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, following his formal request to leave the club. The 29-year-old shot-stopper’s exit was confirmed on Thursday via the club’s official social media channels.

“Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club,” the statement read. “After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release. We sincerely thank Stanley for his years of service, commitment, and professionalism. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated.”

Nwabali joined the Port Elizabeth-based Chilli Boys in 2022 from Nigeria’s Katsina United and quickly became a pivotal figure in goal. Over his tenure, he made more than 70 appearances in the Betway Premiership, earning praise for his consistency, shot-stopping abilities, and leadership on the field.

Beyond club football, Nwabali has also risen to prominence on the international stage as Nigeria’s number one goalkeeper. His impressive performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up, cemented his status as a key figure for the national team.

Chippa United did not confirm whether Nwabali has already finalized a move to a new club. However, reports from local media indicate that several African and overseas clubs have expressed interest in signing the experienced goalkeeper, who is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s top talents between the posts.

As Nwabali embarks on the next chapter of his career, attention has shifted to potential suitors eager to secure his services. Chippa United extended their best wishes to the goalkeeper, expressing gratitude for his contributions and professionalism during his spell with the club.

The departure of Nwabali marks a significant moment for Chippa United as they prepare to identify a replacement for the Super Eagles custodian, whose presence in goal was a stabilizing force throughout his tenure. Meanwhile, Nigerian football fans will closely monitor developments, anticipating where the seasoned goalkeeper will continue his professional journey.

Nwabali’s exit underscores the growing movement of Nigerian talent across African and international leagues, highlighting the ongoing demand for experienced players with proven international credentials.
