Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has described President Bola Tinubu as an “emperor with many servants,” sparking debate ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Adebayo made the remark on Sunday during an interview on Hard Copy, a news programme broadcast on Channels Television.
The SDP figure was commenting on the current political landscape and the perceived concentration of power in the presidency. He suggested that Tinubu’s leadership style reflects a highly centralized approach, with numerous aides and officials working to execute his directives.
Speaking further on the upcoming 2027 elections, Adebayo emphasized the need for greater political accountability and warned against excessive centralization of authority in the country’s leadership.
