Super Eagles fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel has declared teammate Victor Osimhen a better all-around striker than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, citing the Nigerian forward’s relentless work ethic and impact both on and off the ball.
Speaking in an interview with OmaSportsTV, Osayi-Samuel, who made his Nigeria debut in November 2022 and was part of the team that won bronze at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, emphasized Osimhen’s intensity in training and consistent pressing during matches.
“If I’m being honest, it’s Victor. I might be biased, but I believe many people don’t realize what he does during training,” Osayi-Samuel said. “It’s not just about when he has the ball, it’s also about what he does when he doesn’t. His pressing! I have never seen someone press the ball like he does and still get it.”
The Birmingham City defender added that Osimhen’s ability to maintain pressure consistently is a “special talent,” noting that even when mistakes happen, the striker turns defensive actions into productive plays. “As a fullback, you could mess up the ball, but he still makes it into a good play because of how he runs and puts pressure on the opponent,” he said.

Osimhen has been in impressive form for Galatasaray this season, scoring six goals in his last five league games, helping the club maintain its lead in the Super Lig and establishing himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards.
Osayi-Samuel’s comments underline the growing recognition of Osimhen’s all-around contributions, both in the national team and at club level, reinforcing his reputation as a striker who combines technical skill with exceptional work rate.
