Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Convention Central Coordination Committee, Alhaji Aminu Masari, has accused some party members protesting alleged denial of nomination forms ahead of the party’s national convention of attempting to destabilize the ruling party.

Masari made the remarks on Thursday in Abuja during a world media briefing ahead of the APC 8th National Convention, scheduled to hold from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28, 2026. He insisted that the party followed its zoning arrangement strictly and dismissed claims that aspirants were unfairly prevented from purchasing forms.

According to him, the APC remains committed to federal character principles, noting that all party offices were zoned in line with established agreements to ensure fairness and balance across the country.

“APC is a responsible Nigerian party. In line with federal character, all offices are zoned,” Masari said while responding to questions on complaints by some aspirants. “People who came to buy forms for positions zoned to their zones were sold forms. But when a position is zoned to one region and someone from another zone insists on buying a form, then we suspect such a person only wants to create confusion.”

He added that the party would not tolerate actions capable of causing disunity ahead of the convention, stressing that the APC’s structure is built on zoning to maintain stability within the party.

“If you are contesting for a position that has not been zoned to your area, how can you claim you have been denied your democratic right? We suspect such people may be agents interested in destabilizing our party, and we will not allow that,” Masari stated.

The former Zamfara State governor also said the party had not received any court papers regarding the alleged denial of forms, adding that the APC would respond appropriately if any legal action is formally brought before it.

“We are not aware that anybody has gone to court. We have not been served with any notice, and we are a responsible party. If we are served, we will respond accordingly,” he said.

The briefing was attended by several senior party officials, including Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee Pius Ayim, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication Sunday Dare, and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, among other party dignitaries.

Masari assured that preparations for the convention had been concluded and expressed confidence that the exercise would be peaceful, transparent, and in line with the party’s constitution. He said the APC leadership remains focused on strengthening internal unity as it prepares for future political contests.
