Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that political disagreements will not slow down ongoing development projects in Abuja, insisting that his focus remains on infrastructure delivery and urban renewal.
Wike made the statement on Monday during the commissioning of several road projects across the FCT, amid speculations about political tensions within the ruling party.
According to the minister, governance must take precedence over politics, stressing that residents of the FCT deserve visible improvements regardless of political affiliations.
“Abuja’s growth will not be derailed by politics. My mandate is clear: deliver infrastructure, improve services, and make the FCT a modern capital city,” Wike said.
He highlighted ongoing projects in road construction, public transportation, sanitation, and satellite town development, noting that several long-abandoned projects had been revived since his appointment.

Wike also warned contractors against shoddy work and unnecessary delays, stating that the FCT Administration would enforce strict quality and timeline standards.
Residents who spoke at the event expressed optimism that the pace of development would be sustained, particularly in underserved satellite towns that have historically lagged behind the city centre.
Analysts said Wike’s assertive style and emphasis on project delivery have reshaped the political and administrative dynamics of the FCT, even as his political alignment continues to attract debate.
The minister reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability, urging residents to judge his performance by results rather than political narratives.
