Governor Hope Uzodimma

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has been appointed chairman of the 73-member Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as vice chairman of the committee, while Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has been named secretary.

The committee is expected to oversee planning and coordination activities ahead of the party’s 2026 national convention, a key gathering that will shape the APC’s internal structures and strategic direction.

Uzodimma’s appointment places him at the center of preparations for the high-stakes convention, drawing on his leadership role within the Progressive Governors’ Forum and his experience in party administration. AbdulRazaq and Buni are also regarded as influential figures within the party, bringing intergovernmental and organizational experience to the committee.

Political observers say the composition of the committee reflects the party’s effort to balance regional representation and consolidate internal cohesion as it prepares for the next phase of its political calendar.

The APC national convention is traditionally used to review party policies, elect or reaffirm party leadership, and set the tone for upcoming electoral cycles. With a 73-member structure, the coordination committee is expected to work across logistics, stakeholder engagement, and convention programming.

Party insiders note that early constitution of the committee signals the APC’s intention to begin long-term planning well ahead of the 2026 event, allowing for broad consultation within its ranks.

Further details on the committee’s timetable and operational framework are expected to be announced in the coming months.
