The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has appointed Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu as its Deputy Director General (North), a move the organisation says will strengthen its political structure and deepen engagement across northern Nigeria.

TSG announced the appointment in a statement on Friday, describing Aliyu as a tested leader with extensive grassroots reach and a long record of service in public office. The organisation said his experience, credibility, and strategic insight made him a strong addition to its national leadership team.

Aliyu, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives from Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, emerged as one of the most influential lawmakers in the 9th National Assembly. He was widely regarded for his work on governance reforms, constituency development, and political mobilisation, earning respect across party lines.

His tenure as Chairman of the House Committee on Power between 2019 and 2023 placed him at the centre of oversight in one of Nigeria’s most critical sectors. Under his leadership, the committee convened major engagements with key players in the electricity industry, pursued interventions aimed at improving power generation and distribution, and provided direction on policy issues. These efforts drew commendations from the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and parliamentary leaders.

TSG said his legislative record reflects a consistent commitment to national development and citizens’ welfare. Beyond the power sector, Aliyu contributed to national debates, policy reviews, and consensus-building on issues of public interest. He was also known for maintaining strong links with his constituency and mobilising support during major political cycles.

Confirming the appointment, TSG Director General Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai praised Aliyu’s integrity and depth of experience. He said the organisation was confident that its new Deputy DG (North) would bring renewed momentum to political engagement and strategic coordination across the region.

“Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu is a man of proven integrity, dedication, and capacity,” Yakasai said. “His political experience, strategic insight, and commitment to national development make him an invaluable addition to our leadership. We are confident that his contributions will further strengthen the Tinubu Support Group, especially across the northern region.”

Aliyu holds a PhD in Sustainable Development and several professional qualifications, adding academic strength to his political experience. TSG noted that while his academic achievements are impressive, it is his ability to navigate complex political environments and build alliances that makes him particularly suited for his new role.

The group congratulated him on what it described as a well-deserved appointment and expressed optimism that he would deploy his experience, energy, and influence to advance the organisation’s goals.

With his new position, Aliyu is expected to lead outreach efforts, coordinate regional strategy, and support TSG’s broader activities as it continues to push its message and unify supporters across the country.
