President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, urging party leaders and members to close ranks as preparations begin for the 2026 election.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Oyebamiji’s emergence as a product of unity and maturity within the Osun APC, noting that the primary election was conducted peacefully through affirmation.
Tinubu praised party leaders and aspirants who stepped down for Oyebamiji, saying their decision reflected loyalty to the APC and a shared commitment to its ideals. He said the show of consensus and reconciliation ahead of the primary had strengthened the party and positioned it well for the task ahead.
The President urged Oyebamiji to be magnanimous in victory by reaching out to all stakeholders, including former aspirants and party elders, stressing that inclusivity and cohesion would be critical to electoral success.
“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun,” Tinubu said. “I urge all members and leaders of APC in the state to remain focused, united, and resolute. Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed.”
Tinubu also commended the orderly conduct of the primary election, which was chaired by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and held in Osogbo, the state capital. He noted that the unanimous affirmation of Oyebamiji by party delegates underscored the level of consensus achieved within the party.
According to the President, the unity displayed during the primary should be sustained as the party transitions into full campaign mode, adding that internal harmony would be a major factor in winning the confidence of voters.
He expressed confidence that the APC in Osun State has the capacity to build on the momentum generated by the primary election, calling on all stakeholders to work together to deliver a credible campaign and secure victory in 2026.
