The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 External Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), recording a high pass rate nationwide.

In a statement on Tuesday, NECO said a significant percentage of candidates obtained five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language, meeting the benchmark for tertiary institution admission.

The council attributed the improved performance to enhanced examination monitoring, candidate preparedness and the adoption of technology to curb malpractice. NECO also noted that the external examination provides opportunities for private candidates and school leavers to improve their results.

Candidates have been advised to check their results through NECO’s official portal using their examination details. The council warned against patronising fraudsters, stressing that all result-related services should be accessed only through approved channels.

Education stakeholders welcomed the outcome, describing it as encouraging for the education sector. However, they urged sustained investment in teacher training, curriculum development and infrastructure to maintain standards.

NECO reaffirmed its commitment to credible examinations and continuous reforms aimed at improving assessment quality across the country.
