The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed strong confidence in the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing them as critical steps toward sustainable national recovery and effective service delivery.

Governor Mutfwang stated this on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, while receiving members of the Renewed Hope City Boys Movement on a courtesy visit at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

The Governor reaffirmed his endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that recent indicators, particularly the steady growth of Nigeria’s foreign reserves, reflect renewed investor confidence and gradual economic stabilization.

Governor Mutfwang described the emergence of the movement as timely, signaling the commencement of grassroots political mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections. He commended the group for its early organization and emphasized that effective politics must be people-centered and service-driven.

“All politics is local. It must be rooted in relevance and service to the people, not mere symbolism,” the Governor stated.

Governor Mutfwang reiterated his confidence in the policies and initiatives of President Tinubu, acknowledging that while some reforms have been difficult, they were necessary for long-term national survival. He described the removal of fuel subsidy as inevitable, noting that the policy disproportionately benefitted racketeers rather than ordinary Nigerians.

“Whenever you are confronted with a difficult situation as a leader, you must be prepared to take tough decisions,” he said.

Highlighting positive economic developments, the Governor noted that Nigeria’s foreign reserves have risen to appreciable levels, helping to ease foreign exchange constraints and restore confidence among international investors who previously faced challenges repatriating funds.

“We are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel,” Governor Mutfwang remarked.

While acknowledging that the effects of macroeconomic reforms may take time to fully reflect at the grassroots, he observed that recent reductions in food prices point to tangible progress. He added that government efforts were ongoing to address losses suffered by farmers and strengthen food security nationwide.

Governor Mutfwang further disclosed that President Tinubu has demonstrated keen interest in the peace, stability, and development of Plateau State, particularly in the area of livestock development. He revealed that modalities were being finalized to leverage Plateau State’s comparative advantage in livestock production, noting that the sector would drive wealth creation, empower youth and women, and boost the production of beef and dairy products to meet growing demand.

The Governor emphasized that the scope and depth of reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration underscore the importance of continuity, describing support for a second term as a worthy and strategic cause. He congratulated the Renewed Hope City Boys Movement for aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda and assured them of the state government’s shared commitment to its success.

Earlier, the State Director of the City Boys Movement, Prince David Daser, speaking on behalf of the Grand Patron, Barr. Seyi Tinubu; the Director-General, Hon. Francis Shoga; and the national leadership of the movement, explained that the City Boys Movement is a youth-driven, progressive platform committed to grassroots mobilization, political inclusion, and leadership development.

He noted that the movement has functional structures across all local government areas, wards, and polling units in Plateau State.

Prince Daser announced plans to host a major Plateau State City Boys Movement Conference in February 2026 and assured the Governor of the movement’s loyalty and partnership in promoting federal and state government policies at the grassroots.

The visit climaxed with the decoration of Governor Mutfwang as the State Patron and Advisor of the movement, as well as the presentation of a plaque in recognition of his commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment.
