Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has expressed confidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would not be able to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, even if he teamed up with Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Musawa made the remarks during an interview on TheMicon Podcast, which was shared on Instagram on Saturday. While acknowledging Atiku as a respected political heavyweight and a “formidable opponent,” she maintained that he would still fall short against the ruling party.
According to the minister, Atiku’s political experience and influence are undeniable, but the current political landscape, coupled with the strength of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), makes a victory over President Tinubu unlikely.

Musawa’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about potential alliances ahead of the 2027 elections, with political analysts closely watching moves by major opposition figures. She emphasized that while coalition-building may boost Atiku’s prospects, it would not be enough to overcome the incumbent president’s support base.
The minister’s statement reinforces confidence within the ruling party, signaling an early assertion of dominance as preparations for the next general elections intensify.
