Troops of Sub-Sector 3B under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully rescued a woman abducted in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, the military said in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Sunday.

According to the report, the troops, deployed at Kufai Amadu in Takum LGA, received intelligence around 1:13 p.m. on Friday that a woman, identified as Mrs. Iloda Ayinba, had been kidnapped in Torikegha village, Chanchanji Ward while on her way to her farm. The suspected abductors were reportedly herdsmen relocating from the area.

Following the alert, military personnel quickly launched a search-and-rescue operation, pursuing the kidnappers along their escape route and conducting a thorough sweep of the surrounding bush, including the power line corridor linking Taraba and Benue states.

The operation forced the kidnappers to abandon Mrs. Ayinba in the bush and flee, allowing the troops to rescue her safely. There was no direct contact with the suspects during the mission.

The military emphasized its ongoing commitment to protecting residents and curbing criminal activities in the region, noting that prompt intelligence and rapid response were key to the successful rescue.

Mrs. Ayinba’s safe recovery marks another success for OPWS troops deployed in vulnerable areas, highlighting continued efforts to safeguard communities against kidnappings and other violent crimes.
