The All Progressives Congress APC has scheduled the screening of aspirants seeking to contest for national offices ahead of its forthcoming National Convention.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the secretary of the party’s National Convention Aspirants’ Screening Committee, Isa Yuguda, announced that the exercise will hold on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

According to him, all aspirants who have purchased and submitted their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for positions in the party’s National Working Committee are expected to participate in the screening.

The exercise is slated to commence at 9:00 a.m. at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, a venue frequently used for high-level political and governmental events in the Federal Capital Territory.

Yuguda said the screening is a critical step in the party’s preparations for its National Convention, where key leadership positions will be contested and decided.

“The Aspirants’ Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress National Convention 2026 hereby invites all aspirants who have duly purchased and submitted Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for national offices at the convention to attend the screening exercise as scheduled,” the statement read.

He stressed that attendance is mandatory for all aspirants, noting that the process will include verification of credentials and other relevant documents.

“All aspirants are required to attend in person and arrive promptly with all relevant supporting documents for verification,” he added.

Party insiders say the screening exercise is expected to determine the eligibility of candidates vying for strategic positions within the National Working Committee, a body responsible for the day-to-day administration and direction of the party.

The development comes as the APC intensifies preparations for its National Convention, widely seen as pivotal in shaping the party’s leadership structure ahead of future political contests.

Observers note that the convention will not only decide party leadership but also set the tone for internal cohesion and strategic direction within the ruling party.

With the screening date now confirmed, attention is expected to shift to the list of cleared aspirants and the level of competition for top party offices, as stakeholders across the country closely monitor developments within the APC.
