The Accord Party in Osun State has confirmed the successful uploading of Governor Ademola Adeleke as its duly nominated candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship election, marking a key step in its preparations for the poll.
The party’s chairman in the state, Pastor Victor Akande, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo, saying the development followed the completion of all required documentation and submission processes with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to Akande, INEC has now listed Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke as the Accord Party’s official candidate for the governorship contest, putting to rest questions surrounding the party’s nomination process.
“We are pleased to formally inform the good people of Osun State that His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has been successfully uploaded into the records of INEC as the Accord Party’s candidate,” Akande said.
He described the confirmation as a significant milestone and an affirmation that the party had complied fully with electoral guidelines and procedures governing the nomination of candidates.
“The confirmation by INEC is an affirmation that the nomination process has been duly concluded in line with the requirements of the law,” the Accord chairman added.
Akande noted that the party viewed the development as a boost to its confidence ahead of the governorship election scheduled by INEC for August 8, 2026.
He also acknowledged the support the party and its candidate had received from members and residents across Osun State since the commencement of preparations for the election.
“We appreciate the overwhelming support, solidarity and confidence reposed in the party and in Governor Ademola Adeleke by the people of Osun State,” he said.
The Accord chairman urged party supporters to remain focused and law-abiding as the election approaches, stressing the importance of active participation in the electoral process.
He also called on eligible voters in the state to ensure they are registered with INEC and have collected their Permanent Voter Cards to enable them participate fully in the forthcoming poll.
