The city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, is playing host to Senegal’s U-20 women’s team, the Lionesses, ahead of their crucial clash with Nigeria’s Falconets.
The Senegalese team arrived in Nigeria on Monday and were received by officials of the Nigeria Football Federation and the Ogun State Sports Council. The match is part of the qualification series for an upcoming international tournament.
Team officials said Abeokuta was chosen for its serene environment and quality training facilities, which would allow the players to acclimatise ahead of the encounter.
The Lionesses have since commenced training, focusing on tactical drills and fitness sessions as they prepare to face the highly rated Falconets, who are known for their pace and attacking strength.
Meanwhile, the Falconets have intensified preparations, with coaching staff expressing confidence in the team’s readiness. The technical crew said emphasis was being placed on discipline, teamwork, and converting scoring chances.
