Yemi Fasoyin

Veteran broadcaster and actor Yemi Fasoyin has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he had died, describing the news as false and deeply disturbing.

Fasoyin spoke in a telephone interview on Tuesday after rumors of his death went viral on several online platforms, prompting concern among fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry.

“I am alive and in good health. I don’t know where the story started, but it is completely untrue,” he said.

The broadcaster, known for his long career in radio and television, expressed disappointment over the spread of unverified information online, urging the public to confirm news from credible sources before sharing it.

Several prominent figures, including members of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, also reacted to the rumor, calling for responsible use of social media and respect for individuals and their families.

Fans had earlier flooded social media with condolence messages after a post claiming Fasoyin had died began trending, forcing his associates to quickly issue statements denying the report.

Media analysts say false death reports have become increasingly common in the age of social media, often spreading rapidly before being verified. They warned that such hoaxes can cause emotional distress and damage reputations.
