President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent terror attacks in Maiduguri, describing the incidents as disturbing while reaffirming his administration’s resolve to eliminate insurgency across the country.
In a State House statement on Monday, the President condoled with the people of Borno State, mourning those who lost their lives and extending sympathy to the injured. He assured residents of the federal government’s solidarity during what he called a challenging period.
Tinubu, however, dismissed the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorists seeking to instil fear, insisting that such actions reflect mounting pressure on criminal elements from ongoing military operations nationwide. He vowed that security forces would intensify efforts to track and neutralise all threats.
The President commended the bravery of Nigerian troops and civilian task forces for successfully repelling coordinated assaults on military positions in the state, noting that their courage prevented further devastation.
As part of immediate measures, Tinubu disclosed that he had approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies following a recent high-level security meeting. He also directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations and stabilise the situation.
Furthermore, the President instructed emergency response agencies to ensure adequate medical care for those injured in the attacks.
Reiterating his administration’s stance, Tinubu declared that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for terrorists, pledging that security forces would locate, confront, and decisively defeat them.
“Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” the President affirmed.
