She emphasized that beyond the visible sacrifices associated with motherhood, it is often the small and quiet moments of care, guidance and encouragement that truly define a mother’s love. The First Lady said these everyday acts of kindness and devotion leave lasting impacts on children and families.
“Your love, care and sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” she stated, while thanking mothers for the warmth and selfless devotion they consistently demonstrate in raising their children and supporting their families.
The First Lady also called on mothers to continue guiding and mentoring the younger generation with wisdom and moral values that would benefit society in the years ahead. She stressed that the responsibility of raising responsible citizens begins at home and rests significantly on the shoulders of mothers.
She urged Nigerian mothers to remain steadfast in instilling discipline, compassion and resilience in their children, noting that such virtues are critical in preparing future leaders and building a stronger nation.
Oluremi Tinubu further offered prayers for mothers across the country, expressing hope that they would live long to witness the rewards of their labour through the achievements and success of their children and grandchildren.
“May we all live to enjoy the fruits of our labour over our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,” she said.
Mother’s Day is celebrated globally as a day dedicated to honouring mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds, while also recognizing the influence of mothers in society. Across Nigeria, families and communities marked the occasion with tributes, prayers and celebrations in appreciation of the role mothers play in nurturing both families and the nation.
The First Lady’s message joins those of leaders and public figures who used the occasion to acknowledge the enduring impact of mothers in shaping society and inspiring future generations.
