Damilola Marshall, daughter of Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has announced her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, signaling her entry into elective politics ahead of the next legislative elections in Lagos State.
Marshall, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made the declaration on Tuesday, stating that her decision was driven by a desire to serve her constituency and contribute more directly to lawmaking and grassroots development.
According to her, the move to seek a legislative seat comes after years of working within government and engaging with young people, women and stakeholders in the tourism and creative sectors.
She said her experience in public service has exposed her to the needs of the people at the community level, adding that she believes the legislature offers a stronger platform to push for policies that will improve livelihoods.

Marshall noted that Lagos requires committed and innovative leaders who understand the challenges facing residents, particularly in areas such as youth empowerment, job creation, culture and tourism development.
