President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increase for military personnel across Nigeria, pledging to address welfare and accommodation challenges faced by members of the armed forces.
The announcement was made during an interfaith breaking of fast with Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, where Tinubu commended the military for their sacrifices in protecting the nation’s sovereignty.
Highlighting the importance of unity, the president said the interfaith gathering reflected Nigeria’s diversity and symbolized solidarity. “The interfaith breaking of fast together is a reflection of the diversity of our nation, but God has ordained this period to coincide with one another for self-integration and self-actualization,” he said.
Tinubu assured the Service Chiefs that his administration would prioritise the welfare of military personnel and their families. “I have listened to the Chief of Army Staff, and recent approvals given to the Army are well placed. Your sacrifices, often without your families and in the face of attacks from bandits and terrorists, will not be in vain,” he said.

He also emphasised that all sections of the military, from operational offices to medical units, would receive the necessary support. “Whether in the office or in the medical section, you have been working to serve the country and protect our sovereignty. This nation will always be grateful, and we will ensure you have no regrets,” Tinubu added.
The president further reiterated that his administration would prioritize opportunities and accommodations for personnel and their families, ensuring that benefits extend beyond salary adjustments.
“This nation’s progress and solidarity reflect our diversity. Your welfare, accommodation, and other opportunities that should be extended to your families will take first priority in our decisions,” Tinubu said, commending the Armed Forces leadership for their efforts in safeguarding the country against internal and external threats.
The announcement of the salary increment is seen as part of broader efforts by the Tinubu administration to boost the morale of military personnel and strengthen national security while recognising their commitment to defending Nigeria.
