A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Natasha, has called on party leaders and members to set aside their differences and unite ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a political gathering, Natasha warned that continued divisions within the party could weaken its ability to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which currently holds significant political advantage across many states.

She emphasised that unity among party leaders, stakeholders and grassroots supporters would be critical for rebuilding public confidence and restoring the PDP’s electoral strength.

According to her, internal disputes, leadership struggles and prolonged litigation have damaged the party’s image in recent years. She urged party members to prioritise reconciliation and collective strategy over personal ambitions.

Natasha also stressed the importance of strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, noting that effective mobilisation at the local level would play a crucial role in future elections. She encouraged party leaders to engage young voters and women more actively in political activities.

Political analysts say the PDP faces an uphill task as it attempts to regain national momentum following electoral setbacks and the increasing dominance of the APC in many states.

However, Natasha expressed confidence that the party could recover if members demonstrated discipline and unity. She noted that the PDP still retains a large support base across the country and remains a major political force.

She further called for transparent leadership processes and inclusive decision-making within the party, arguing that such reforms would strengthen internal democracy and reduce factional tensions.

Party stakeholders present at the event reportedly agreed on the need for reconciliation and pledged to intensify consultations among key leaders.

As the political atmosphere gradually begins to shift toward preparations for the next electoral cycle, analysts believe the ability of opposition parties to unite and present credible alternatives will significantly shape Nigeria’s political contest in 2027.
