Nigeria will take on Morocco in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following their 2–0 quarter-final victory over Algeria on Saturday evening.
The Super Eagles secured their place in the last four with a disciplined and confident performance that neutralised Algeria’s attacking threats and ensured a comfortable win. The result has set up a highly anticipated encounter against Morocco, one of the tournament’s most consistent sides.
Morocco booked their semi-final spot earlier in the competition, with forward Brahim Díaz playing a pivotal role. Díaz currently leads the tournament’s scoring chart with five goals, making him a key player to watch when the two sides meet.
Nigeria, however, will approach the clash with confidence, buoyed by their strong defensive organisation and the attacking form of Victor Osimhen, who has four goals in the tournament. Support from players like Ademola Lookman has further strengthened Nigeria’s offensive options.
In the other semi-final permutations, Egypt are scheduled to face Ivory Coast later on Saturday night, with the winner set to meet Senegal in the last four. The remaining fixtures promise intense competition as Africa’s top teams battle for a place in the final.
Football analysts describe the Nigeria–Morocco match-up as one of the most balanced ties of the tournament, pitting Nigeria’s physicality and pace against Morocco’s technical discipline and clinical finishing.
