A man has been hospitalised after sustaining injuries during a fire incident involving a truck loaded with rubber materials in Kishi town, Oke Ogun zone of Oyo State.
The incident occurred Wednesday night when the truck, reportedly a Volvo, caught fire while in motion. According to eyewitnesses, flames quickly engulfed the vehicle, prompting panic among bystanders.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the occurrence, stating that firemen responded swiftly and managed to rescue the injured man. “Upon arrival, the truck was fully ablaze with rubber materials. Our team launched an articulated attack and demonstrated professional expertise to save a male occupant.
The man was conveyed to a nearby hospital in Kishi for treatment,” Akinwande said.
He added that the fire service successfully prevented the flames from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. The cause of the fire, he explained, was sparks from the truck’s engine compartment while it was in motion.

Authorities have advised drivers transporting flammable goods to ensure their vehicles are regularly maintained to prevent similar incidents. Emergency services continue to urge prompt reporting of accidents involving fire hazards to minimise casualties and property loss.
