The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have begun high-level discussions as Lagos prepares to host the 2026 National Intermediate Games for Under-18 athletes.

The LSSC delegation, led by Director General Mr. Lekan Fatodu, met with UNILAG Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Foluso Lesi, at the Senate Building. Both teams, including senior officials from the LSSC and the UNILAG Sports Council, discussed strategies to deliver a world-class sporting event aligned with Lagos State’s vision for excellence in sports development.

Lagos has a history of hosting major sporting events, such as the Festival of Table Tennis, African Senior Fencing Championship, Zen Archery Lagos International Open, and the Africa School Games, positioning the state as a leading sports hub in Nigeria and across Africa.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to establish joint working teams and timelines to ensure seamless coordination ahead of the Games, reinforcing Lagos’ goal of hosting an athlete-centred, well-organised, and impactful National Intermediate Games that will strengthen Nigeria’s sports development pipeline.
