Senator Seriake Dickson,

Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), the former Governor of Bayelsa State announced during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

Dickson cited irreconcilable differences within the PDP, describing the party as having “shrunk its umbrella” and lost its voice on national issues due to prolonged leadership tussles. He stated that these challenges made it impossible for the party to accommodate members like himself.

The senator expressed confidence in the NDC, recently registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the new opposition party poised to provide credible alternatives in Nigeria. He called on Nigerians to identify with and register under the NDC for a “better Nigeria.”
