Tragedy struck a community in Edo State after two children reportedly drowned following severe flooding triggered by heavy rainfall. The incident occurred when rising waters overwhelmed residential areas, sweeping through streets and homes.

Eyewitnesses said the children were caught in fast-moving floodwaters while attempting to navigate a submerged pathway. Local rescue efforts were launched immediately, but the victims were later confirmed dead, plunging the community into mourning.

Residents blamed poor drainage infrastructure and blocked waterways for worsening the flooding. Community leaders have repeatedly called for urgent government intervention to address erosion and water management challenges in vulnerable areas.

As families grieve, calls are mounting for preventive measures to avert future tragedies, especially as the rainy season intensifies.
