Tinubu to sign tax reform bills Thursday

President Bola Tinubu is set to sign four major tax reform bills into law today, Thursday, June 26, 2025.

The bills include :
- *Nigeria Tax Bill (Ease of Doing Business)*: Aims to consolidate Nigeria's fragmented tax laws into a harmonized statute, eliminating multiple taxation and reducing compliance burdens on taxpayers.
- *Nigeria Tax Administration Bill*: Introduces a uniform operational and legal framework for tax administration across federal, state, and local governments.
- *Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill*: Establishes a new, autonomous national revenue agency, the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), with a broadened mandate to manage tax and non-tax revenues.
- *Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill*: Part of the reforms to streamline tax collection and management.

The signing ceremony, scheduled to take place at the State House in Abuja, marks a significant milestone in President Tinubu's economic reform agenda. The new laws are expected to :
- Simplify tax compliance
- Enhance revenue generation
- Improve the overall business climate in Nigeria
- Boost domestic and foreign investment
- Support the government's capacity to deliver public goods and services
