Tinubu’s Paris Retreat Sparks Speculation Over Cabinet Reshuffle
By Achimi Muktar
In a move that has set tongues wagging across Nigeria’s political landscape, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has embarked on a two-week working visit to Paris, France. But this isn’t just any diplomatic trip—it’s a high-stakes review session that could define the second half of his presidency.
With his two-year mark in office fast approaching, Tinubu is reportedly using this time to evaluate his administration’s progress and, more crucially, to assess the performance of his cabinet members. According to insiders, those who have failed to meet expectations might be shown the door in a much-anticipated shake-up.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed in a statement that the Paris visit is more than a retreat—it’s a strategic session aimed at refining policies and accelerating national priorities.
“During the visit, the President will review key milestones achieved since taking office, assess the impact of ongoing economic and governance reforms, and engage in strategic planning for the nation’s development in the coming year,” Onanuga stated.
One of the administration’s biggest bragging rights so far? A dramatic surge in Nigeria’s net foreign exchange reserves. According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, reserves have soared to $23.11 billion, a remarkable jump from the mere $3.99 billion recorded in 2023. Onanuga attributes this growth to the government’s fiscal and monetary reforms, emphasizing their role in stabilizing the economy.
However, beyond economic progress, political analysts suggest that Tinubu’s Paris visit signals a major reassessment of his team. With whispers of a cabinet reshuffle growing louder, the question on everyone’s mind is: Who will stay, and who will go?
While the President remains actively engaged with governance from abroad, all eyes are now on Paris, where decisions that could shape Nigeria’s political and economic future are being made.
Stay tuned—big changes may be coming sooner than expected!
