Tinubu’s Bold Deadline: Nigeria’s Security Agencies Ordered to Eradicate Kidnappers and Bandits by 2025

In a decisive move to combat insecurity, President Bola Tinubu has issued a clear directive to Nigeria’s security agencies: eliminate kidnappers, bandits, and separatists by 2025.
This bold order was revealed by Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, during a rousing reception by All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Gusau on Saturday.
Matawalle emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to addressing all forms of insecurity across the country. “The president has tasked us with an ambitious but necessary goal—to secure the nation by 2025,” he declared.
A National Push for Security
The minister highlighted significant strides already made to strengthen the country’s security apparatus, including procuring advanced security gadgets.
“I have visited several countries to secure the purchase of state-of-the-art security equipment,” Matawalle said. “Some of these have already been delivered and deployed in Sokoto.”
He further called on communities to play a pivotal role in exposing informants and collaborators aiding criminal activities. “Whether they live in the bush or among us, we must expose these criminals to support our operatives,” he urged.
Community Collaboration Is Key
Acknowledging the vital role of local intelligence, Matawalle stressed that citizens must boldly report suspicious activities.
“We are committed to arresting all notorious bandits and their collaborators, but intelligence from the people is crucial for us to succeed,” he said.
The minister announced plans to personally visit affected communities during his seven-day stay in the state to review security challenges and devise actionable solutions.
Infrastructure as a Security Strategy
Matawalle commended President Tinubu’s infrastructure initiatives, particularly the ongoing construction of the Zaria to Sokoto dual carriageway. The road, he noted, is expected to enhance security, improve transportation, and boost economic activities in the region.
A Call for Collective Action
As the 2025 deadline looms, Matawalle called for unity and support from all Nigerians. “We need your prayers for the president’s administration to succeed,” he appealed.
The directive to eradicate insecurity by 2025 underscores President Tinubu’s resolve to restore peace and stability. With a combination of cutting-edge technology, strategic planning, and community involvement, the administration is racing against time to fulfill its promise of a safer Nigeria.
