Tinubu Vows Balanced Development: “No Region Will Be Left Behind”

Kaduna, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to equitable development across all regions of Nigeria, assuring citizens that no part of the country will be sidelined in the nation’s transformation agenda.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, at a two-day interactive session in Kaduna, Tinubu emphasized that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” is designed to bridge developmental gaps nationwide. The event was organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation under the theme “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Development.”

“We are ensuring that no region is left behind in our drive for inclusive growth. Every policy, every project, every reform is anchored on national unity and balanced progress,” Tinubu stated.

Setting the Record Straight on Northern Development
Responding to perceptions of regional imbalance, the president noted that data and on-the-ground progress refute the claim that the North is being neglected. Akume led a high-powered federal delegation including ministers, directors-general, and senior aides—both from northern and southern Nigeria—to present empirical evidence of federal interventions across the North.

Key Reforms and Infrastructure Push
President Tinubu outlined bold reforms his government has undertaken to stabilize and grow the economy. These include:

Unification of exchange rates

Debt restructuring

Removal of fuel subsidy, which he described as a tough but necessary move that has freed up trillions of naira for development spending.

He pointed to massive infrastructure investments such as:

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway

Kano-Maradi and Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail lines

National housing initiatives

These, he said, represent deliberate efforts to spread development across Nigeria's geo-political zones.

Human Development & Security
Tinubu reiterated the Renewed Hope Agenda’s focus on human capital and social investment. So far, over 400,000 students have accessed tertiary education loans under the Students’ Loan Programme, with more than ₦53 billion disbursed.

The administration is also overhauling the nation’s security architecture through:

Modernization of equipment

Increased personnel training

Strengthening of inter-agency coordination

“Security remains the foundation of national development. Nigerians deserve to feel safe—wherever they live,” he said.

Agriculture, Energy & Food Security
Tinubu described agriculture as pivotal to both economic empowerment and food security. His administration is promoting modern farming practices, easier access to finance for farmers, and expanded market access. He also highlighted a renewed push toward unlocking Nigeria’s vast natural resource and energy potential through sustainable investment and innovation.

Reaffirming Democratic Values
The president stressed that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a campaign slogan but a framework rooted in the principles of transparency, accountability, participation, and inclusivity.

“It’s about building a diversified, innovation-driven economy that leaves no one behind.”

Tinubu also paid tribute to legendary Northern Nigerian leaders, particularly Sir Ahmadu Bello, whom he praised for laying a foundation of unity, equity, and regional development. He extended similar commendations to leaders like Chief Solomon Lar, Mallam Adamu Ciroma, and Prof. Jerry Gana, among others, for their selfless dedication to nation-building.

A Call for Patience and Collective Resolve
In closing, President Tinubu called on Nigerians to remain patient and supportive as the government works to translate policies into tangible outcomes.

“The path to sustainable change demands patience, collaboration, and a shared national vision. Together, we can make the Renewed Hope Agenda a reality for every Nigerian.”
