Tinubu Rewards 200 Outstanding NYSC Members with Jobs, ₦250K Each, and Scholarships
Abuja, Nigeria —
In a move applauded as a major morale booster for Nigerian youth, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate employment of 200 exceptional National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service.
Along with the prestigious job offers, each honouree will receive a ₦250,000 cash award and a fully funded scholarship for postgraduate studies at any Nigerian university.
Represented by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the President made the announcement on Tuesday during the combined 2020–2023 President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja.
“Your discipline, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to national service have earned you this recognition. You are the hope of Nigeria,” Tinubu declared.
Inclusion for Heroes with Disabilities
In a touching gesture, President Tinubu extended automatic employment offers to 10 ex-corps members who became physically challenged during service. He assured them—and the nation—that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
“These individuals deserve more than our applause. They represent the spirit of resilience and patriotism,” he said.
Fast-Tracked Federal Employment and Scholarships
The President instructed the Head of the Civil Service and the Federal Civil Service Commission to commence immediate onboarding of the awardees into the public workforce.
“In recognition of your efforts, each awardee will receive ₦250,000 and a scholarship to pursue postgraduate education up to any degree level at a university of your choice in Nigeria,” he said.
Tinubu emphasized his administration’s broad vision to empower youth, citing national investments in education, innovation, skills development, and digital transformation.

FG Reaffirms Support for Youth
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised the President’s proactive approach to youth engagement. He noted the increase of NYSC monthly allowances from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000, calling it a strategic investment, not a political gesture.
“Each honouree today stands as a symbol of what Nigerian youth can accomplish with vision and values,” he said.
Olawande reaffirmed federal support for initiatives focused on startups, green energy, digital leadership, and talent export, ensuring that young Nigerians remain competitive globally.
NYSC DG Applauds Youth Contributions
Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, praised corps members for their impact on healthcare, education, ICT, electoral support, and rural development.
“In 2025 alone, over 6,300 medical personnel, including 2,319 doctors, provided healthcare access in underserved areas,” he said.
He added that over four million Nigerians benefited from the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), while 250,000 corps members undergo annual training in skills acquisition.
A Vision for the Future
The NYSC DG also commended the proposed NYSC Trust Fund Bill, poised to establish a sustainable funding mechanism for the scheme. He called it “a game-changer for the future of youth service in Nigeria.”
He concluded with a message to the honourees:
“You may no longer wear the khaki, but you now wear the trust of a nation. Carry it with pride, serve with purpose, and lead with integrity.”
