Tinubu Appoints Adeyemi Olumode as New Controller-General of Federal Fire Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General (DCG) Adeyemi Olumode as the new Controller-General (CG) of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), following the impending retirement of the current CG, Dr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, scheduled for August 13.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jubril (Rtd.), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), who conveyed the decision on behalf of the Federal Government.

Maj.-Gen. Jubril commended the outgoing CG, Dr. Jaji, for his unwavering commitment and years of dedicated service to the nation, noting that his retirement follows his attainment of the statutory retirement age of 60.

DCG Olumode, now CG-designate, is described as a seasoned professional with an extensive track record in fire and emergency management. His career began with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he steadily rose through the ranks, most recently serving in the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters.

Olumode's qualifications include the successful completion of mandatory in-service and command courses, both domestically and internationally. He is also a respected member and fellow of numerous professional bodies, including:

Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)

Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria

Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria

Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria

His appointment marks a new era for the Federal Fire Service, with expectations high that he will build on his predecessor’s achievements and bring innovative leadership to the agency's expanding mandate across Nigeria.
