The SkillUp Imo Project is not just ambitious — it’s visionary. A bold, strategic leap into the digital future. Its target of upskilling 50,000 young people in key digital competencies has been fully realized.
The SkillUp Imo Project is not just ambitious — it’s visionary. A bold, strategic leap into the digital future. Its target of upskilling 50,000 young people in key digital competencies has been fully realized.
Today, I witnessed the 3rd Cohort Graduation Ceremony, where 10,000 youths successfully completed intensive training in app development, data analytics, blockchain, AI, fintech, cybersecurity, digital marketing, cloud computing, IoT, gamification, phone and computer repairs, and more.
Rooted in the first pillar of the Imo Digital Economy Agenda (iDEA 2022–2026), this initiative positions technology as the engine of prosperity for Imo State.
The APC Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, captured the moment perfectly:
“I am dazed. I am impressed. I am happy. You have renewed the hope of young people — no wonder your name is Hope.”
Governor Hope Uzodinma described the programme as the manifestation of his vision for Imo youth:
> “Our shared resolve is to place Imo at the forefront of the global digital economy. The future of Imo depends on our youth — I am proud to add another 10,000 to the 40,000 already trained, making it 50,000.”
He also appreciated the President’s bold reforms that have increased revenue to sub-nationals, empowering states to do more.
> “We are building an Imo where broadband will be like road networks — everywhere.”
Next stop: the Digital City — Nigeria’s first AI City. The newly launched ImoApp, developed by young Imolites, is a proud testament to what homegrown innovation can achieve.
Human capital. Technology. Prosperity.
Surely, a new Imo is on the rise.
