Shettima Lauds Nigeria-Brazil $1bn Agric Deal

Nigeria's Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised the $1 billion agreement between Nigeria and Brazil to boost agriculture, food security, energy, and defense in the country.

The deal, signed on June 24, 2025, aims to :
- *Deploy Mechanized Farming Equipment*: Introduce modern farming techniques and equipment to enhance agricultural productivity
- *Provide Training and Service Centers*: Establish training programs and service centers across Nigeria to support farmers and promote agricultural development
- *Enhance Food Security*: Increase food production and reduce reliance on imports, addressing food insecurity concerns

The agreement is part of Nigeria's efforts to transform its agricultural sector and achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2030. President Bola Tinubu emphasized that this partnership marks a shift from policy intentions to practical implementation, driving widespread technology transfer, job creation, and food security. The deal also highlights cooperation in renewable energy, defense, and innovation between the two nations .
