Security Boost: Gov. Abiodun Approves 1,000 New Recruits for Ogun Amotekun

In a landmark move to strengthen grassroots security, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has announced the recruitment of 1,000 additional personnel into the Amotekun Corps, bringing the total to over 2,000 operatives in the state.

The announcement was made on Saturday at the passing-out parade of 690 Batch D trainees held at the Ogun State Stadium in Sagamu. The governor’s decision underscores a renewed commitment to fortifying security infrastructure and tackling unemployment across the state.

“We are determined to make Ogun State safer and more secure. This recruitment is part of our comprehensive plan to bolster the Amotekun Corps and ensure they are well-equipped to tackle security challenges,” Governor Abiodun said.

To further enhance the corps’ efficiency, the governor pledged additional resources, including patrol vehicles, electric motorcycles, communication gadgets, and other operational tools.

Governor Abiodun commended the trainees for their discipline and emphasized the importance of community policing and intelligence gathering in combating crime. He noted that Amotekun’s presence at the grassroots level has not only improved security but also created job opportunities for residents.

Commandant of the Amotekun Corps, Alade Adedigba, praised the trainees’ readiness to serve and expressed gratitude to the state government for its unwavering support.

The vibrant ceremony also featured cultural performances, awards for excellence, and demonstrations of the trainees’ capabilities.

This expansion of the Amotekun Corps signals a proactive approach to security and development in Ogun State, ensuring that both safety and empowerment remain top priorities.
