Security: Matawalle leds Nigeria and India into Defence

On August 12, 2025 in New Delhi India, the Minister of State, Defence of Nigeria Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle lead a powerful delegation on a strategic two-day tour of India’s defence and space technology facilities.

Nigeria and the Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth held a bilateral meeting to forster and strengthen a Security synergy with the two country's.

The meeting focused on advancing bilateral defence cooperation and military engagements across diverse domains. Key discussion points included
- Counter-Terrorism: Collaboration on counter-terrorism training to enhance security capabilities.
- Research and Development: Joint R&D initiatives, with India welcoming a Nigerian team to explore areas of cooperation.
- Maritime Cooperation: Enhancing maritime security, hydrography, and anti-piracy efforts.
- Defence Industry Cooperation: India's defence industry showcased its capabilities, including Light Combat Aircraft and Offshore Patrol Vessels, with potential investments in Nigeria's defence sector.
- Investment Opportunities: Dr Matawalle invited Indian companies to invest in Nigeria's defence industry.

The meeting highlighted the growing defence ties between India and Nigeria, with both nations exploring opportunities for cooperation in defence manufacturing, training, and joint operations. The Nigerian delegation also interacted with Indian defence industries during their visit.
