In a show of Nigeria’s growing commitment to sustainability and innovation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu touched down in Abu Dhabi early yesterday to participate in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). The globally renowned summit, themed "The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress," brings together world leaders, innovators, and business magnates to tackle pressing global challenges through sustainable strategies.
Nigeria’s Voice in Sustainability
Arriving at 2:14 a.m. local time, President Tinubu was warmly welcomed by UAE’s Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan. At the summit, Tinubu is set to spotlight Nigeria’s strides in sustainability, highlighting key reforms and achievements in energy sufficiency, modernized transportation, public health advancements, and economic growth.
The President’s participation underscores Nigeria’s dedication to positioning itself as a leader in sustainable development within Africa and on the global stage.
Strategic Bilateral Talks
Beyond the summit discussions, President Tinubu is scheduled to hold high-level bilateral talks with UAE leaders. These discussions aim to deepen ties between the two nations, focusing on areas of shared interest such as renewable energy, economic diversification, and global partnerships for sustainable progress.
Accompanying Delegation and Agenda
The President is joined by Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other senior government officials. Tinubu’s agenda includes networking with global stakeholders, forging strategic alliances, and showcasing Nigeria’s readiness to adopt and lead in sustainable initiatives.
A Global Platform for Impact
Now in its 15th year, ADSW has solidified its reputation as a critical platform for driving meaningful change in clean energy, environmental stewardship, and economic innovation. The event draws policymakers, business leaders, and civil society representatives from around the world to foster partnerships and advance initiatives that align with global sustainability goals.
As President Tinubu prepares to return to Nigeria on January 16, his participation in ADSW not only reaffirms Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development but also positions the country as a key player in the global sustainability discourse.
