Paulo Homes: A Land Grabber Bites the Mantle of Restriction.

In a significant development, the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has issued a restraining order, prohibiting Paulo Homes Ltd. and Titan Castles Nigeria Ltd. from accessing a disputed 85-hectare land in the Lugbe district. This decision follows an ex-parte application by Jonah Capital Nigeria Limited, which claims ownership of the land.¹

The court's interim order, delivered by Justice A.S. Adepoju, specifically restrains the two companies from engaging in any activities on the land, including clearing, construction, or deployment of manpower. This restriction will remain in place until the court resolves the motion for interlocutory injunction.

Jonah Capital Nigeria Limited had expressed concerns that without the court's intervention, Paulo Homes and Titan Castles might sell the property to unsuspecting buyers, complicating the legal battle and undermining the court's authority.

The disputed land, located at Plot No. 4, Cadastral Zone LO5, Lugbe West, Abuja, is a prized asset in the burgeoning Lugbe district, a focal point for estate development in Abuja. The court's decision maintains the status quo, ensuring the property remains undisturbed until further legal determinations are rendered.

The next hearing is scheduled for February 3, allowing both parties to present their cases comprehensively. This ruling marks a crucial turning point in the legal dispute, and its outcome will have significant implications for the parties involved.
