PDP Governors Caution Against Rising Dictatorship, Hunger in Eid-el-Maulud Message

Abuja — The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has warned that Nigeria is sliding dangerously toward dictatorship amid worsening hunger, insecurity, and economic hardship.

In a statement issued by the Forum’s Director-General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, on behalf of its Chairman, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the governors said the Eid-el-Maulud celebration should serve as a sobering reminder for leaders to recommit to justice, accountability, and service to humanity.

“Today, our country stands at a crossroad. Citizens are increasingly disconnected from the services they deserve, as the nation inches toward full-blown dictatorship marked by abuse of power. Meanwhile, failed economic policies have driven millions into hunger, poverty, and joblessness,” the Forum stated.

Call to emulate Prophet Muhammad’s virtues

Drawing lessons from the life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the PDP governors urged Nigerians to embrace peace, tolerance, and compassion across all divides.

“His timeless message of peace, tolerance, and service to humanity resonates across all faiths and cultures. Let this day inspire us to strengthen bonds of brotherhood, foster understanding, and work for a more united and harmonious nation,” the statement read.

Leadership must rebuild trust

The Forum stressed that Nigeria’s leadership must urgently restore citizens’ faith in the system by upholding values of humility, truth, and accountability.

“Eid-el-Maulud should remind leaders of the need to serve with sincerity and transparency, so that the trust of the people in their country can be rebuilt,” it added.

While wishing Muslims nationwide a peaceful and joyous celebration, the governors prayed for unity and resilience in the face of national challenges.
