*Oyo Police Uncover Human Trafficking Syndicate, Rescue 83*

By Mabeni Aboh

The Oyo State Police Command has foiled a human trafficking operation in Ibadan, rescuing 83 individuals, including a child, from a residential building in the Orogun area. Preliminary investigations suggest the victims, believed to be nationals of the Democratic Republic of Congo, were lured to Nigeria with false promises of employment opportunities.

The suspects allegedly extorted large sums of money from the victims' families and relatives as part of the elaborate scheme. The rescued individuals are currently being held at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, while further investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the operation and bring all those responsible to justice.

This recent case highlights the ongoing efforts needed to combat human trafficking in Nigeria. The police operation has brought hope to the victims, and the investigation is expected to shed more light on the syndicate's activities.
